Council On Mission
Meets on the third Monday of each month
Council On Mission (aka COM) is the governing body of the UPL, the Board of Directors if you will. This group is made up of the Moderator, Secretary, Assistant Secretary, Treasurer, Financial Secretary, a representative from each committee and the officers of the two denominations.
This group is responsible for ensuring that the activities at the UPL support our mission.
Buildings & Grounds
Committee meets as needed.
“B&G” is responsible for the maintenance of our 2 buildings and grounds. This includes making minor repairs or working with professionals for larger repairs.
Family Faith Formation and Educational Ministries
Committee meets on the last Wednesday of the month.
We are committed to providing programs that enable growth in Christian faith and in the knowledge and understanding of the Bible. Foremost, we want our children to learn that they are never alone, and through the example of Jesus, we can communicate with God and find guidance in our daily lives.
We believe an active faith is developed in a learning environment that teaches compassion and respect for ourselves and others through involvement. In this atmosphere we all experience our church as an extended family, which is a loving, fun, forgiving and accepting community.
Finance Committee
Committee meets monthly on the Thursday before a COM meeting.
Committee is responsible for managing the financial life of the church. It handles the income and expenses of the United Parish. It leads and facilitates the budgeting process and stewardship.
Global, Prayer and Service
Committee meets on the first Thursday of the month.
The "GPS" committee’s mission is to share God’s love in our local community and the world. This includes organizing volunteer opportunities (North Star Family Services, Lunenburg Food Pantry, Hospitality/Coffee Hour) as well as fundraising for local, national and global missions.
Music Ministry
This is centered around our Choir but encompassing the musical life of our church. This group primarily provides music in support of Sunday worship. Typically, the music is provided by the senior choir. On Sundays that the choir does not sing, special music is provided by the junior choir or other musicians.
Staff Parish Relations Committee
Meets monthly. These meetings are usually closed (private).
The "SPRC" is responsible for managing the relationship between the UPL and all paid staff including the Pastor. They provide assistance to committees who are supervising paid staff and ensure consistency and interface with the denominations regarding the pastor.
Shawl Ministry
Meets in the morning on alternating Mondays. Check calendar regularly to confirm.
Create shawls, blankets, hats, and other items of comfort and celebration.
Worship Committee
Meets monthly on the fourth Tuesday of the month.
This group supports the pastor in all things pertaining to Worship Services. This includes providing the elements for communion, ensuring we have ushers to greet people and making sure the sanctuary is setup for the current season (candles, decorations, colors, etc.)
